Musical influences have been mostly Motown- and Philly-based, O'Jays & pounding Tamla stuff. Favourite Genre is Motown Favourite club was 'The Beat Route' up the west end in the early 80s (we used to ride 70 miles up there on our scooters early evening then ride home at 4am!) Favourite DJ was always Jeff Young as I would listen to his show early Friday evening to see if he played any of the 12" promos I'd got that day from Jays records in Cambridge. Most inspiring was Tony 'The royal ruler' Prince who formed DMC (Disco Mix Club) which I was an early member of and was fortunate enough to be a part of the promo team for the 'Hit mix' albums. Tony brought mixing dance music to the fore in the early 80s. The hardest question of all... Favourite choon... I'm going for The O'Jays 'Used to be my girl' purely for the longevity of the time I've been playing it - 1976 up till now! |
